The following was inspired in honor of Memorial Day. I’ve a few short things to share, may they be a blessing to your spirit.
I learned the best way to honor the Departed is to truly LIVE. Not just exist, not just survive, but really live — unveiled, unhinged, & into the truth of who we are — and rejecting the falsehoods of what we are not.
CULTural constraints that block destiny and condemn to the conveyor belt fate - fuck that noise.
But we can only blame the external world for so long until we must contend with the fact that it is us, and only us, that is responsible for our own lives.
So, LIVE. Truly fucking live. Do the shit that scares the hell out of you. Listen to the nudge to go in a direction that doesn’t make logical sense — there’s something there for you to find.
When it comes to art, fuck “being an artist” — become the art.
(Plot twist: you already are)
When it comes to music, when it comes to all forms of art — I’d rather die than do anything else. An existence of self-betrayal is far worse than death.
When we honor why our Souls came to this life… we honor all beings — both departed and still embodied here.
For a song that salutes the Departed, the ones still living in human form, and the bridge that connects us through space and time (grief, love and reverence) you may listen to the song or watch the music video for my song Grieve My Love here:
I’ll share something on Memorial Day that I shared yesterday on social media, it pertained to this video clip here:
Tomorrow is Memorial Day. This lyric was written on Memorial Day of last year.
i’ve known veterans of many wars, one in particular inspired this sentence as I watched them struggle deeply with the kaleidoscope flashbacks of the past, which prevented them from having a present.
This song was originally spawned with the passing of my cousin in 2024 and is about the grief and losing nearly 30 souls on the firing lines of addiction and related lifestyles, but I think what really turned it outward and made me start speaking to those of us still living was bearing witness to that suffering a year ago.
It’s one thing to be aware of it within yourself, but it hits different when you see it in someone else.
this is why relationships are considered the highest form of yoga. They are mirrors. Discord arises when we mistake them as windows.
May we all honor one another and the sacredness of both life and death today, tomorrow and for the rest of our time here on earth.
That’s all from me today.
God bless you all.
Stay creative. Stay alive. Stay love.
Soulful and stirring, Thank You!
They are mirrors. Wow. That just hit home. Thank you 🙏
